
Jacquelyn Marie Weitz is a pianist and singer from Billings, Montana, who has performed in concert halls across the United States and Europe, and has won top prizes in many national and international competitions. Performances include recitals at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Carnegie Hall and the Kosciusko Foundation House in New York City, the Bosendorfer Saal in Austria, and the Palazzo Gallio in Lake Como, Italy. She began her musical studies with her mother, Robette Weitz, at the age of three. As a high school student Jacquelyn won second place and the Outstanding Musician award at the Bartok-Kabalevsky-Prokofiev International Piano Competition and at age nineteen was a prizewinner and one of five finalists in the Pinault International Piano Competition in New York. Ms. Weitz made her debut with the Billings Symphony at age seventeen, performing Mendelssohn's Concerto in G minor. Since then she has performed concerti with many orchestras including the Bozeman, Helena, and Missoula Symphony Orchestras; and the Aurora, Colorado, and Fort Dodge, Iowa Symphony Orchestras. Most recently, Jacquelyn won first prize in the San Francisco Conservatory Piano Concerto Competition. As a result, she will perform Ravel's Piano Concerto in G Major with the San Francisco Conservatory Orchestra in 2012. Jacquelyn also won first prize in the American Protege Competition and as a result performed in Carnegie Hall. Twice she has been a national finalist the the Music Teachers National Association Competition, and was also awarded 3rd place in the Liszt International Piano Competition in Los Angeles. She has also been a finalist and prizewinner at the Jefferson Symphony Competition in Colorado.
In 2006 Jacquelyn attended the prestigious International Summer Piano Academy at Lake Como, Italy, studying with William Grant Nabore, Stanislav Ioudenitch, and Massimiliano Frani. She has also attended twice the Van Cliburn (now PianoTexas) International Piano Institute in Fort Worth with Tamas Ungar. Jacquelyn earned her Bachelor’s degrees from Montana State University–Billings in both Piano and Vocal Performance, where she studied with Dorothea Cromley (piano) and Lesley Jorden (voice). She went on to earn her Master's degree from Texas Christian University where she received a full-tuition scholarship, studying voice with David Brock and piano with Harold Martina. Following her graduation from TCU she continued her piano studies with Ms. Cromley and vocal studies with Dennis Rupp (L.A.). She then went on to attend the San Francisco Conservatory, where she was the recipient of the Lester A. Holmes endowed scholarship, and studied piano with Paul Hersh and voice with Jane Randolph. This spring she was awarded her Professional Studies Diploma in Music Performance.
In 2009 Jacquelyn was cast in her first solo operatic role, as "Miss Silverpeal" in Mozart's The Impresario with the Rimrock Opera Company. From 2006-2008 Jacquelyn was the leading soprano in the Texas Christian University Collegium Musicum. In 2010 she again performed with the Rimrock Opera as "Lucy" in The Telephone. This year she was chosen as one of a few soprano soloists for the San Francisco Conservatory of Music's Baroque Ensemble concerts. She was also chosen as a student guest artist to sing on a faculty recital in November. This spring she performed one of the only recitals ever recorded at the conservatory to feature one soloist performing both vocally and instrumentally.
In addition to the time she spends in practicing, Jacquelyn also enjoys painting, reading, dancing, writing, and spending time with family and friends.
